From his bio:
“Themes of hope, sadness, and striving fill Andrew Pauls’ original songs. Rooted in traditional American folk music. Andrew’s lyrics dance with soulful banjo and guitar playing to create thought-provoking songs. In Andrew’s music, listeners will hear influences from songwriting veterans John Prine and Bob Dylan with hints of contemporary artists like Mandolin Orange and Tallest Man on Earth.
Andrew performs often in the Lancaster, PA area and he lives there with his spouse Laura and all of their instruments. He is interested in the way music can hold together a world that can feel as if it is falling apart.”

Caleb Ryan Martin is an acoustic bluegrass, folk and roots musician hailing from the hills of Tennessee. He has traveled and played music all across the United States, singing with expressive vocals, playing guitar, and frailing the banjo, providing people with melodic medicine.

Local singer-songwriter Chris Collat brings rock, funk, and soul to our Wednesday night music series.

Get your tickets for this special St. Patrick’s day event today! This Milwaukee-based group is not to be missed.
From their bio: “Cut primarily live in the studio over the course of two weeks, the album is raw and understated, drawing its potency from the power intimacy and hushed revelation. With a sound that calls to mind everything from Joni Mitchell to Gillian Welch, Vos draws on a Biblical lexicon in her lyrics, but the gospel of Dead Horses belongs to no particular religion. Instead, these are songs of the people, stories of Vos’ own efforts to come to terms with her turbulent upbringing as well as stories of the men and women she grew up with in a rural America.”
“Smoky vocals, cinematic lyrics…a beautifully uncluttered collection of songs” -Rolling Stone

“Robert Rolfe Feddersen is a singer/songwriter from Chicago who currently resides in Crown Point, Indiana. Robert’s songwriting style is very open, honest, reflective, humorous and topical. He has a well-crafted eight album catalog of songs, the last two of which were recorded in Chicago by Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Cheap Trick). RRF was also named “Best of 2016” on Chicago’s 93XRT’s Local Anesthetic.
Formerly the frontman of well-known mid-90’s Chicago band LOUDMOUTH, Robert earned a gold album from the soundtrack for the film Varsity Blues, penning the hit song “Fly.” His songs have also appeared in numerous movies, movie trailers and TV shows. As a working and touring singer/songwriter, Robert performs in excess of 150 shows per year and his songwriting has been compared to early Springsteen/Steve Earle/Woody Guthrie. Robert’s live shows are entertaining, engaging and audience-inclusive and he has a unique style to his guitar playing — taking a properly strung right-handed guitar and flipping it left handed so the strings are in reversed order. “I break a lot of high E strings playing this way, but it’s the only way I understand and play the guitar.””- RRF bio

From his bio: “Luke Winslow-King’s latest album is an example of craftsmanship at the highest level, radiating a warmth and timeless elegance. Adept at mixing country, blues, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, and folk influences intuitively and masterfully, Luke shapes a mood from many sources and shepherds it to a unifying place of acceptance and hope. Blue Mesa is both stately and approachable, manifestly proficient but deeply personal.”

Save the date for Kansas Bible Company on the GBCo. lawn this Memorial Day weekend!
From their bio: “The Kansas Bible Company is a psychedelic rock and roll band with brass. KBC combines heavy guitar, propulsive horn lines and poppy melodies in a genre bending mélange that produces sounds both new and familiar.”
Opener: Ignition Brass Band, 7:00
From their bio: “Their eclectic mix of music ranges from traditional New Orleans street music (NOLA), moving on to other areas including funk, hi-hop and pop as covering a multitude of personal likes. Some of their musical influences come from James Brown, Macklemore, and others.”

From their bio: “In 2017 Doug Earl, of Goshen, IN, stumbled upon the online recordings of a fella from South Bend, L. Amos Sanchez, who had been writing music and lyrics on couches and in dark little rooms for a quarter century. Joined by Chuck Long on percussion, Jake Carl Miller on keyboard and Jacob Randolph Snyder on tenor sax, Earl (bass/vocals) and Sanchez (guitar/vocals) are driven by, and agree on, the most basic premise — it’s never too late for rock.roll.rumble dot com …”

We’re excited to welcome the Grammy-nominated, Austin, TX based-band Wood and Wire back to the GBCo. lawn!
From their bio: “Respect for honest labor is a central theme in Wood & Wire’s 2018 GRAMMY Nominated album for “Best Bluegrass”, North of Despair ( Blue Corn Music), with songs populated by people like songwriter Tony Kamel’s own grandfather, who built the family’s hunting lodge in Llano, Texas with his own two hands. The characters on the album live large, and aren’t afraid to share their opinions about the modern world. This kind of vivid, haunting songwriting focused on lives spent deep in the countryside is a hallmark of Texas songwriting. But it’s the melding of this hard country songwriting with high-octane bluegrass instrumentation that makes for Wood & Wire’s signature sound. Artists like John Hartford have trod this ground before, mixing up great songs, bluegrass virtuosity, and a strong sense of place, and Wood & Wire aim to pave the way for Austin’s roots scene, bursting out of the giant expanses of the state with a fully-fledged vision for a new Texan sound. On North of Despair, they bring the ferocity of their live shows to the studio, whipping through barn-burning anthems about hard people in hard times.”

From his bio: “Southside Denny is a legendary blues rocker from South Bend, Indiana. Denny has answered the call to share the stage with many legendary rockers such as John Fogerty, Edgar Winter, BTO and Styxx. A style concocted of rapid-fire yet melodic and soulful playing and lots of open tuning slide guitar, his talents of both guitarist and singer are heralded by fans and fellow players alike.” He is joined by his son and daughter to form The Snyders. Check them out as a part of our Wednesday music series!

From their bio: “The Fury is a straight ahead, honest American rock and roll band from the heartland. Fueled by raw emotion and high energy riffs, they are often compared stylistically to the bluesy bands of the late 60s and 70s. The Fury blazes a new trail with a fresh, modern approach to a style reminiscent of bands like Free, Cream, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, Mountain and more recently Rival Sons.”

From their bio: “Americana’s wild child, ClusterPluck, mixes bluegrass, folk, rock, and
country into a hearty sonic stew. Throwing tradition aside, they utilize electric guitar, acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, dobro, mandolin, banjo, and three part vocal harmony. This three piece band from Southern Illinois produces an up-beat, grassy energy with a little country jam for listeners of all ages to enjoy.”
“

Is it folk music with a little extra groove, or is it bluegrass music with righteous rock beats? Come enjoy craft beer and listen to some outdoor tunes from this nationally touring bluegrass duo out of Kansas City, MO and Warsaw, IN!
From their bio: “Their exciting, gritty, and often hilarious stage show has been developed over 6 years of touring across the US and Europe. The two met while working as American Cultural Ambassadors in Germany via the Fulbright Program and began exploring traditional American music from abroad. Since then, they have collected influences from various regional styles of American folk music including Bluegrass, Old-Time Fiddle, Hambone, Fiddlesticks, Cajun, Gospel and others.”

From their bio: “The Rough & Tumble are as easy to detect as a stray dog on your doorstep– and as difficult to send home. The dumpster-folk, thriftstore-Americana duo, consisting of Mallory Graham & Scott Tyler, have been hobbling around the country in their 16’ camper since 2015. They picked up a couple of actual strays along the way– two 100lb dogs, Puddle & Magpie Mae– and have been making themselves at home in living rooms, bars, theaters, and festivals across the country.
“Their Americana music is restorative, their performance highly entertaining, their orchestra of unusual instruments intriguing, and… jokes and stories are worthy of an HBO special.” (Linda Bolton, Cozy Cabin House Concerts).”

Opening for Strand of Oaks will be Frankie Lee, The Claudettes hailing from Chicago, IL and James and The Drifters coming from Fort Wayne, IN.

Seth Bernard wields an acoustic guitar, a powerful stage presence and a fiercely contagious spirit… Thought-provoking, compassionate, funny songs backed up by agile picking.”
-The Ark

From his bio:
“The “And I” in Johnny And I serves a dual purpose. First, and most logically, “And I” is my loop station, which allows me to record different parts of a song and combine it all together, reminiscent of a one-man band. Dig a bit deeper, and “And I” symbolizes andi, the Icelandic word for “spirit”. Aside from the scattering of recognizable songs that I play to connect with the audience, the majority of songs that I play and write have meanings that uphold my core values, true to my andi.”

GBCo. is excited to welcome local singer-songwriter Sam Brown back to the stage for our Wednesday music series! This will be Sam’s last show before his performance hiatus, so come show him some love.

From their bios:
Anna p.s.: “Indie folk musician Anna p.s. conveys a sense of weariness throughout her simple yet resonant songs, but it’s a weariness that keeps a blanket of hope tucked up under its chin, even as the rain keeps falling outside the windows. Grace always lurks around the corner on tunes that layer delicate vulnerability over the hearty stock of this songwriters’ spirit.”

Join us for an evening of Jazz in the Beer Hall. Derek Lambacher and the Gruesome Twosome will kick things off from 6:00-7:00, followed by The Dean’s List at 7:15. See you there!
